Payroll – Who’s Bringing Home the Bacon in Your Household?Author: Lori S.m. Hollenback In today’s society it’s normal to have both parents of the household work while raising children. Per certified payroll reports it’s been stated that the average weekly income for men that work full time was $766 in 2007, while women’s weekly average income was $614 in the same year. Women are only earning 80% of what men are. That’s a pretty significant difference and one would have to question if it’s partially due to men and women receiving different salaries for the same jobs because of their gender. Although, we’ve come a long way in bridging the salary gap there seems to be more work ahead of us before the payroll is consistent across all job fields. But, women can feel confident that we’ve made some steps towards pay equality. Per a 2003, report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, here’s a look at ten different job fields where the payroll differs between men and women who have the same positions, in the favor of women.
